El Museo de Arte de Ponce

The Museo de Arte de Ponce (Arts Museum of Ponce) was founded in 1959 by a distinguished native and former governor of Puerto Rico, Mr. Luis A. Ferre Aguayo (1904-2003), an industrial engineer, entrepreneur, legislator, president of the senate, musician, philanthropist, and arts advocate.

After having temporarily closed its doors in 2008, (at which time 2.8 million people enjoyed 125 masterpieces in 16 different museums located in 9 countries) the museum reopened in 2011. The museum possesses a priceless collection of 4,500 art items internationally recognized besides offering new exhibitions. academic offerings and creative sessions.

As part of the offerings the museum provides, the housing department of Puerto Rico funds a program called “Art Empowering People”

El Museo de Arte de Ponce fue fundado en 1959 por Don Luis A. Ferré Aguayo (1904-2003) destacado puertorriqueño que fue Gobernador de PR, ingeniero, industrial, empresario, legislador, Presidente del Senado, músico, filántropo, promotor y gestor de las artes.

Reabrió sus puertas en el 2011, tras un cierre temporal en el 2008, lo que permitió que el museo durante dicho periodo compartiera 125 de sus obras maestras con 2.8 millones de personas en 16 museos en 9 países.

Cuenta con una valiosa colección internacionalmente reconocida de más de 4,500 obras en adición a nuevas exhibiciones, ofrecimientos académicos y talleres creativos.  Como parte de los ofrecimientos académicos y auspiciado por el Departamento de Vivienda Publica de PR nace el proyecto: “Art Empowering People”.
